Around Fuling

I just wanted to post a few photos of Fuling.  This is where our daughter has been living for the past several years.

We walked up to the top of a mountain to look down on the city of Chongqing.

The scenery and mountainsides are beautiful, but the smog is very bad.

This was a garden near the nursing home center.

We drove into the city of Fuling.

This was a fruit stand, everything is always so fresh.

We went to the old Fuling orphanage, where Valerie was abandoned at the gate.  She remembers being here.
When we were doing our paperwork, we asked for a video of Valerie.
this is where the video was taken.

We were able to go inside the gate and look around.  We did not go in the building

While we were here, one of the guards came up to speak with us.  Then another lady came over.  She looked at Valerie and called her by her full Chinese name.  Then several other people came over.  They all knew who she was.  They were excited that she was going home with us.  They would talk to her and Valerie would just smile.  She is very shy when we are out.

I do not have a picture, but did take a video of them.

After leaving here we walked across the street.
Valerie said that this is where she lived.

She lived on the fifth floor.

Here are some photos the neighborhood

We drove a little down the street to a hotel restaurant.  It was right across the street from a sports stadium.

The hotel was very nice

The food was wonderful!

Here is our guide, Michael

The history was written on all of the stone tablets.

Leaving Fuling.....

Some very tired girls!

When we got back to the room, we had a surprise.

Michael had found out that it was Robbie's birthday, so.......

he ordered a cake and had it delivered to our room!

It was delicious!
It was 90% whipped topping.
The "cookies" were puffed and very light.
The filling was pineapple.
